Who's responsible
WelcomeCarson is a sole proprietorship in Ontario, Canada, and is responsible for the personal information described here. For any question, request or complaint about it, email [email protected], or write to WelcomeCarson, 14-1860 Appleby Line, Suite 129, Burlington ON L7L 7H7, Canada.
Browsing this site
- This site doesn't use cookies, analytics, tracking or ads.
- It's hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic details about your browser so it can deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.
When you buy Plexa or a sound kit
WelcomeCarson collects your email address, to send you your licence code or download link and a receipt.
Your card details go straight from your browser to Square, the payment processor. They never reach WelcomeCarson, and this site never sees or stores your card number. If you pay with Google Pay or Apple Pay, Google or Apple handle your payment details. Square may ask your bank to confirm it's you, and may use information about your browser or device to prevent fraud.
To deliver your order:
- Square processes the payment and keeps a record of it, with your email address.
- Keygen creates your Plexa licence. The licence is stored with your email address and the payment's reference number, so a lost code can be found again.
- Resend sends the email with your licence code or download link. Sound kit download links stop working after 7 days.
- If something goes wrong after you've paid, WelcomeCarson is emailed your order details, including your email address, so your purchase can be sent to you by hand.
When you ask for a free version
To get the free version of a sound kit, you give your email address and agree to that free version's terms. The download link is emailed to you, and works for 7 days.
WelcomeCarson keeps a record of each request: your email address, the kit, when you asked, the terms you agreed to, which boxes you ticked and what they said, and your IP address. It's the proof of what you agreed to, and it stops the form being used to send unwanted emails to someone else. The record is kept in a database run by Cloudflare, and Resend sends the email.
News and offers, only if you ask
The free-version form has boxes you can tick, or leave empty. You get the download either way.
- By email: WelcomeCarson emails you news, new kits and offers. Your email address is added to WelcomeCarson's mailing list in Resend, which sends them.
- By text: you also give your mobile number, and WelcomeCarson can text you news and offers. No texts are being sent yet. Before the first one, the service that sends them will be named here.
You can stop at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to a text, or email [email protected]. It takes effect within 10 business days.
Using Plexa
When you activate or deactivate Plexa, it sends Keygen your licence code, the name of your computer's operating system, and a code made from your computer's ID. That code is scrambled one way, so it can't be turned back into the ID or anything else about your computer. It lets a licence work on one computer at a time. Plexa doesn't send anything else, and doesn't track how you use it.
Beats
The Beats page shows BeatStars' own player, and beats are bought through BeatStars. The player is run by BeatStars, which collects information under its own privacy policy and may use its own cookies and services such as Google Analytics and Stripe.
Videos
Each sound kit page has a video from WelcomeCarson's YouTube channel. Until you press play, it's only a picture kept on this site, and YouTube isn't contacted. Once you press play, the video loads from YouTube, run by Google, in its privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube's privacy policy applies to it.
Emailing WelcomeCarson
If you email [email protected], your message is kept in that Gmail account, run by Google, for as long as it's needed to help you.
Where it's stored
Square, Keygen, Resend, Cloudflare and Google may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. There, it's covered by those countries' laws, and their authorities may be able to access it.
How long it's kept
- Payment records: as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally six years.
- Licence records: as long as the licence exists, so it keeps working and can be recovered.
- Emails about an order or a question: as long as they're needed to help you.
- Your place on the news list: until you unsubscribe.
- Free-version requests, and what you agreed to: as long as they're needed as proof of what you agreed to.
What WelcomeCarson never does
WelcomeCarson doesn't sell or rent your information or share it for advertising. You'll only get news and offers if you tick a box asking for them. Otherwise, emails are only about something you bought or asked for.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information WelcomeCarson holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted where the law allows. Payment records have to be kept for tax purposes, and deleting a licence record stops that licence working. To ask, email [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
